Description

If you are looking at this you probably already know of Soundcraft's legendary performance and rugged build quality. This is an incredible board, 40 mono channels with incredible preamps, 2 stereo, 8 bus, 6 aux, direct outs, etc., and with and enormous amount of routing flexibility. Whether live or in the studio this board will perform flawlessly. this board sells today for $5024 plus shipping from BH Photo Video online.

About this particular unit: The board has lived in a Church for several years and now they are going with an even more massive rig. I recently acquired the unit and tested all the main functions, channels, busses, meters, eq, etc. and everything I tested works perfectly. That said this is an EXTREMELY versatile and complicated board to test every feature. I strongly believe everything works considering what I've tested and the nice condition of the unit, but given it is a used item I will have to sell it as-is, but as described, as in overall 99%+ working condition.

From Harmony Central:
Adding to the established family of Soundcraft professional live consoles is the new Live 8, aimed at FOH mixing for venues and touring bands. The desk's high input and output count also means that the Live 8 is suitable for multitrack recording work.

A development of the ever-popular Spirit 8 desk, the Live 8 is a very affordable and well-featured console that is built around a solid steel chassis with individual channel PCBs and a classic operation topology for ease of use. Various frame sizes hold from 16 to 40 mono inputs, which, when combined with two stereo input channels and eight stereo returns, mean a staggering input capacity of 60 inputs in a very compact frame. An integral meterbridge with LED bargraph meters indicates all input and main output levels.

The desk uses the high-performance UltraMic+ mic preamp, designed by Graham Blyth and capable of handling a wide range of input signals without padding, individually switched +48V phantom power, and a comprehensive four-band equalizer with swept mid-band sections on each mono input. Six auxiliary buses, four mute groups, and a long-throw 100mm fader complete the input channel, which can be routed to eight subgroups and the main stereo mix.

Two full-function stereo inputs provide gain settings for pro and semi-pro equipment, a two-band equalizer, and six aux sends, as well as the four mute groups and routing to the eight subgroup and mix busses.

The output section is complemented by an integral 10x2 matrix section, and the desk is supplied with a new design of lightweight switched-mode power supply.

The Live 8 is bound to find favor with installers and bands alike, offering a rich feature set at a very affordable price with the added advantage of carrying the legendary Soundcraft mark of quality.

Soundcraft

Founded in 1973, Soundcraft first made its mark with the launch of the Series 1, the first mixing console in a flightcase. Back in the early 70's, the music touring business was just beginning - and the transportable mixing desk quickly became popular among the bands and the new PA companies that were springing up to rent out sound equipment. From what was then a small company in central London, Soundcraft expanded and started to diversify. The company designed a mixer for recording - the Series 2 - and began to build a reputation for great-sounding desks, which is often referred to as the favoured 'British Sound'. Design and innovation has always been one of Soundcraft's major strengths. Over the years it has introduced a number of industry-favoured consoles such as the Series 4, 2400, TS24, 8000, 200B, 6000, Delta, SAC200 and the Spirit Folio range, and more recently the Series FIVE, FIVE Monitor and Broadway. Today Soundcraft has a network of 88 distributors selling and supporting its products world-wide. Part of the Harman Pro Group, Soundcraft is still very much the dedicated professional mixing console designer and manufacturer it was back in 1973. It now boasts a range of mixers which are designed for use in live sound, recording, post-production, TV and radio production and disco applications. Harman is an international company which comprises a group of dedicated manufacturers of audio equipment spanning professional audio, in-car systems, multimedia and hi-fi consumer products.
