Theater drapes are used in theater and concerts to serve as both colorful backdrops to the stage and also as curtains which are pulled across the stage at the end of a scene or act. Stage drapery is available in many different kinds of materials and colors, so event planners have a wide selection to choose from to help set the mood in their plays and performances. In addition to theater and concerts, drapery is often used in many other places, such as museums, trade shows, exhibitions, on film and TV sets, in shops and churches â?? anywhere where a large backdrop or curtain might be needed to hide or section of an area from the public. Some of the most common types of stage drapes include traveler curtain drapes, scrim drapes, tab curtain drapery, and also a range of curtain styles including Austrian, Braille, Venetian and Guillotine curtains. Perhaps the most exciting drapery used nowadays is the digitally printed theater drapes. Patterns and designs can be printed onto many different types of fabric used in theatrical drapery, and so these drapes are extremely popular for use as backdrops during theater plays. They can also be used in concerts where a specially designed backdrop is needed. Drapery also includes stretched shapes, which are basically fabric shapes that can be colored or patterned according to the desire of the producer, and then hung on stage between rigging to make unique, eye-pleasing backdrops. These fabric drapery items can also be wrapped around pillars or cut into over shapes and hung from a ceiling.
