The RS18 applies Nexo's patent pending RAY SUB technology in a 2 x 18" Subwoofer format. RAY SUB technology optimizes the positioning and phase rElationships of radiating surfaces in vented enclosures, permitting acoustic distance from rear to front sections to always increase as frequency decreases. Consequently rear and front sections sum up efficiently over the entire Subwoofer bandwidth, allowing for an average of 5db gain from the rear section in the forward direction and cancelling in the ...

...d cancelling in the rear direction.Utilized in a stand alone format, RAY SUB technology, allows the same cabinet to be configured for any polar pattern, omni-directional as a standard direct radiating Subwoofer when speakers are facing the audience, or highly directional when a speaker cabinet is rotated sideways or upwards. With arrays, RAY SUB Subwoofers can be set back to back, front to front, alternate, in vertical columns and, when column length is sufficient, to be beam-steered upwards or downwards. Comprising of two 18 inch transducers with a frequency response of 31Hz – 100Hz and a sensitivity of 107db SPL, the RS18 delivers unchallenged versatility for installations and touring requirements where large formaT Sub-bass cabinets are required.
Nexo Line Array Subs
NEXO are among Europe's top three sound reinforcement loudspeaker manufacturers. Based in Paris, the company was founded in 1979 by Eric Vincenot and Michael Johnson. Both are still actively involved with the company and Eric maintains the unique role of Chairman and R&D Director. What separates NEXO from the competition is an innovative, integrated systems approach to loudspeaker research and development. Each new product/system begins with sophisticated computer simulations, executed by our highly specialised proprietary software. After the design specification stage, the entire electro-acoustic signal chain is thoroughly modeled and product performance rigorously evaluated to maximize system performance in an incredibly short time frame. Line Array Subs
Line array subs are essentially a long line segment of numerous smaller speakers attached together, designed to simulate a much larger speaker. Line array sub woofers have become the speaker of choice for both large concert venues and outdoor events, not to mention public announcement systems, thanks to their practicality and high quality sound output, which is considered to be superior conventional speakers. Two kinds of line array subs are used the most common are vertical line array subs, which produce superior sound output as they create a 3dB drop-off with vast horizontal projection, yet very little vertical diffusion. And because the speakers are installed close together, they can interfere with each other in a constructive way that helps to project the sound waves a much further distance than regular speakers. Essentially, what this means is that line array sub woofers are able to concentrate sound in a very narrow wavelength, which can be directed straight at the audience for maximum effect, making them perfect for public announcements. Vertical line arrays are also the main choice for sound production in live concerts, as they have a very wide horizontal output pattern, allowing the sound to be focused over a large area. Vertical arrays are strategically placed to provide optimum coverage for the entire venue, while horizontal arrays are normally used at the front of the stage to compliment the vertical line array subs.
