Buy Used DC 24 by Rane

Placing the DC 24 within the chain of events in your system varies slightly depending on application. If you are assembling a sound reinforcement system, the DC 24 would typically be placed between the equalizer (you do use one, don’t you?) and the active crossover, or the power amplifier if passive crossovers (or the DC 24 crossover) are used.In Recording applications, the DC 24 may be used in conjunction with insert loops on the mixing console or in series with the outputs en route to ...

...outputs en route to the recorder. Most consoles allow headphone monitoring of the processed signal if the device is
connected to the inserts. A most useful feature. If the DC 24 is used on mixdown, it may be connected to the output of the multichannel recorder or again on inserts of the mixdown console. Many Recording situations require that the DC 24 be connected to the patch bay in the system so it may be easily moved
from one signal location to another. This call should be made based upon the requirements of the application.Wiring of this and all components should follow the Sound System Interconnection RaneNote included in this manual. This note details standard wiring conventions which should be used
to prevent noise and distortion. Also see the Chassis ground point on page Manual-3

Rane Compressors and Limiters

Rane Corporation, founded and incorporated in 1981 in Washington State, is a privately held company. The owners all previously worked together in middle management positions at Phase Linear Corporation, a high-end consumer electronics company. With this background, they pooled over 40 years of combined audio experience to create Rane Corporation. Owners became separate department heads based upon their expertise. This organization created an unusually strong structure, since all department heads had a unique owner's perspective in making it succeed. The company name was selected from an anagram created from the common letters of the first and last names of the original founders. This particular anagram was selected because it was short, easy-to-say and remember, and they liked the double-entendre possibilities implying wet-links to the Northwest. The essential ingredients in Rane's successful philosophy are knowledge, integrity, pride and common sense. At Rane, people learn to treat people the way they would want to be treated, to design & build products the way they would want theirs designed & built, and that when something goes wrong, you react quickly and decisively to correct it. It is an old fashioned, common sense way to run a business, based on mutual trust and respect. Rane started out with four products aimed at small bands, designed to make their live performances better. At the forefront was a unique 12-input, 6-output matrix mixer (MM 12) used to create six different monitor mixes for driving stage monitor speakers. The idea was to help performers hear themselves better. Up to that time, either the small group had no monitors at all, or they were all driven by the same mix. What Rane provided was new, compactly designed, affordable tools to help solve the many problems of on-stage monitoring. Complementing the matrix mixer was the industry's first 6-channel power amplifier (MA 6), and a companion 6-channel headphone amplifier for rehearsal (HC 6). The fourth initial product was a unique combo unit, consisting of a 1/3-octave graphic equalizer and a simple realtime analyzer (RE 27), aimed at giving the performing musician a handy, easy-to-use tool for improving their sound in all venues. In doing all this, Rane established a new price-point for performance, quality and reliability. Rane products were priced well below the top high-end equipment yet outperformed and outlasted them, but were still priced significantly above the low-end products -- thus creating a new middle ground. A noteworthy testament to Rane's design significance and reliability reputation, is that in their first two years of production, Rane designed and shipped eight new products -- five of which are still in production today. Rane Corporation today is an established innovator in providing problem-solving professional audio tools, affordably priced, with unequalled reliability.

Stepper motors have a fixed number of magnetic poles that determine the number of steps per revolution. Most common stepper motors have 200 full steps/revolution, mea

Compressors and Limiters

Audio compressors and limiters are a kind of specialist hardware used to either amplify the volume of quiet sounds or reduce the volume of loud sounds, by simply compressing the “dynamic range” of an audio signal. Audio compression is commonly used during live concerts, broadcasts and studio recording. Audio compressors and limiters, sometimes called a dynamic compressor, can manipulate the volume of sound by alternating the rate of compression through two basic functions – attack and release controls, which are also able to smooth the final effect of the audio output. There are many different kinds of compressors and limiters available, including very basic models with just a few simple knobs for attacking and releasing, and more advanced models which provide greater versatility when it comes to attenuating audio signals. Audio technicians place an extremely high value on compressors and limiters. An audio limiter is essential for managing the level of audio signals during recording sessions. If the volume produced by a piano for example, is not managed, the recording equipment could easily be overloaded when the pianist plays louder, impacting on the quality of the final recording. Similarly, when the pianist plays at a lower volume, audio compressors and limiters are needed to boost the volume level so that the signal remains consistent throughout. In addition to managing signal levels, compressors and limiters can also be used to create special effects and add an extra dimension to recordings. Audio limiters are able to compress dynamic range audio signals into a much narrower range, hence why they are sometimes called a dynamic compressor. The results of such audio compression include attaining a higher source signal from low volume sound, smooth and consistent tones, an increase in some musical instruments sustain and the ability to enhance the “punch” of certain instruments, such as guitars, bass and drums.
