Speed up your data
For de-centralized DMX distribution networks the Network Signal Processor (NSP) converts the incoming EThernet data stream back into full-speed DMX 512 signals. Four individual DMX ports are available for output, and up to two of them might also be used for DMX input. The NSP can be controlled as DMX node via multiple network protocols. Currently supported are ArtNet from Artistic Licence and our own protocol MA-Net.
For maximum flexibility the NSP is built in a compact 19...

NSP Lighting Processors and Networking
...uilt in a compact 19 inch housing, only 1 unit high. The network signal rocessor requires no external power supply and can easily be configured with the built-in encoder wheel and four function keys. A backlit LCD display shows necessary information about the actual connection state and features an intuitive menu structure which is also mirrored on the optional external VGA screen. Any change of configuration or setup can also easily be done with an optional external PC keyboard. Optionally each NSP can remotely be operated by a Pocket PC with wireless EThernet connection and an installed Telnet client.More parameters for everybody
The NSP is the heart of a grandMA parameter expansion
The Network Signal Processors can be used as a decentralized parameter expansion to any of the grandMA consoles (except GrandMA Micro). DMX signals are no longer generated and distributed from the main console – they are actually calculated locally by the NSP units. A maximum of eight Network Signal Processors can be used to process a total of 16,384 parameters – if all of them would have to be with 16 bit resolution another eight NSPs will output the additional required DMX-universes. Even together with the grandMA ultra-light a single Network Signal Processors calculates 2048 parameters in total and simply doubles the capacity of this console.
More functionality for the offline editor
Makes the grandMA offline to become "on-line"
Any Network Signal Processor connected to a grandMA offline PC on the same network like a "DMX-dongle" will enable the offline-software to send "real" DMX data to the world. With this feature the grandMA offline becomes a full-featured lighting control package for multiple applications. Together with just one NSP the grandMA offline can be utilised as a real fulltracking backup system to any of the grandMA consoles with up to 2048 parameters.
The grandMA offline is restricted for use with a maximum number of two Network Signal Processors for up to 4096 parameters. The grandMA offline cannot be used as a master in a parameter expansion network.
The grandMA Network Signal Processor allows for a complete
integrated network solution by bridging the differences between
the multiple defacto standards in existence today. An EThernet
network can be used to bridge longer distances and to provide
more channel capacity on a single transmission line than a
DMX universe has ever done. It also brings more transparency
into the signal flow and utilizes standard components from
industry for an increased level of reliability. As long as the
Advanced Network Protocol (ACN), the designated successor to
the DMX standard, is not released it is vitally important to be
able to run an DMX node – via EThernet – on anyone of the
known protocols today.
The Network Signal Processor, as well as any of the grandMA consoles, gives you the choice of two fully implemented protocols.
For the new grandMA parameter expansion network the NSP plays a leading role in processing the external parameters for the master console as well as outputting up to four DMX universes at the same time.
The Network Signal Processor requires grandMA version 5 software
or above to support all operational modes as described below.
Operational Modes
The Network Signal Processor
You may choose between five operational modes when using the Network Signal Processor. Depending on your application the NSP can in- and output your DMX channels from a EThernet network, act like a DMX Merger and booster or even expand your grandMA system by additional parameters.
DMX-Merger and –Booster
1 or 2 DMX inputs with HTP or LTP functionality
2 or 3 DMX outputs
EThernet Node with MA-Net protocol
10/100 MBit/s EThernet
4 physical DMX Slots for output

MA Lighting Lighting Processors and Networking
The company was founded in 1983 by Michael Adenau (MA) and enjoys strong growth from the very beginning until today. More than 10,000 MA control desks are being used all over the world and MA´s digital dimming systems have become an industry standard. The success accelerated in 1985, when software specialist Ernst Ebrecht joined MA Lighting as a partner. In this period MA introduced the Lightcommander 24 and Lightcommander 48 control desks. When launched in 1992 the MA Scancommander caused a huge stir in the burgeoning world of moving light control. This product established MA Lighting as a leading innovator of lighting control for the global touring and event sector. Leading producers of intelligent lighting showed great interest in MA's new operating philosophy, which radically differed from the historical "dimmer -oriented" control systems of that time. In the spring of 1998 MA showed the world the eagerly awaited grandMA console. This hybrid lighting control console brought a new level of hardware sophistication to the lighting world. The full color touch screens, motorized faders, built in UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and hard drive were only the beginning. The summer of 2000 saw the launch of a host of new products from MA, the grandMA light, the grandMA replay unit and the grandMA offline editor. In the autumn of 2001, the grandMA range will be completed with the introduction of the grandMA ultra-light. The ultra-light has 1,024 channels but retains the main features of a grandMA at a very competitive price. Today, MA Lighting are well known for their technical know-how and have achieved an unique international reputation for its operational philosophy. MA´s award-winning products are extremely reliable and offer cutting-edge solutions for dimming and control. Organizational Structure This story of success is strongly based on the teamwork between MA and Lightpower. Lightpower, located in Paderborn, is handling the international distribution of MA products since 1987. The two companies work very closely together and, through their respective roles, have made each other stronger. Production, and research & development are located in MA´s modern headquarters in Waldbuettelbrunn. For marketing, sales and technical support Lightpower has founded a new subsidiary: MA Lighting International. All of these activities are coordinated in their Paderborn facilities.. Used . ...

Lighting Processors and Networking
Processors & networking units are essential for lighting technicians as they can add a range of attributes to your light processing, such as extra channels, more calculation power for your network and so on. A DMX network processing unit is essential an integrated circuit with a set of features geared towards optimizing the applications which are being networked together. Processors and networking units are usually software programmable, and come with a number of generic characteristics, similar to standard CPUs which are found in numerous kinds of everyday electrical equipment, such as computers and other electrical products. Processors and networking units come in different shapes and sizes for different uses. The DMX Network Processing Unit is used to boost a network’s calculation power so that more applications can be used simultaneously, while the DMX Network Signal Processing units are used for increasing the number of channels without having any adverse impact on the console’s performance. A DMX Universe Processing Unit generally has a number of functions, including pattern matching, which concerns the ability to locate different bit and byte patters in a packet stream, and control processing, which concerns packet processing operations at a macro level.
